Booysen leads from the front

Margie Eksteen and principal Pieter Booysen hug for the last time as the school's former head girl heads off to university.

Hoërskool Randburg matrics achieved a 100 per cent pass rate and most of them credited principal Pieter Booysen for their success.

Booysen has been head of the school for the past 16 years, and before that he was the principal at Edenvale High School. And, one can see why they love their principal so much; he leaves a basket of sweets on his table, especially for the schoolchildren.

“I was born to be a teacher and I really enjoy interacting with learners and seeing them grow up from being a child to an adult,” he said.

The father of one said being part of his schoolchildrens’ achievements and heartaches was an honour, and every decision he took put them first.

“Hoërskool Randburg is a safe haven where we focus on extracting each child’s potential. We offer a life experience that motivates them, as it says in the school’s motto. For us here, each child is a star,” he said, adding that they have an open-door policy. When Booysen is not at school he keeps himself busy by travelling, watching Vikings on TV and taking photographs.

Pieter Booysen works hard to ensure that all Hoërskool Randburg schoolchildren are happy and content.

Moving to Fontainbleau was a happy moment for him, and he is a Randurger at heart. He invited parents and prospective parents to visit the school if they have inquiries, and to attend school events.

Upcoming Hoërskool Randburg events:

• Cheese and wine evenings on 6, 13 and 20 February

• Athletics Day at Ruimsig Stadium on 10 February.
