The community can look forward to the annual community day taking place on 20 May, at the Windsor Recreation Centre.

The New Creation Family Church, in partnership with other churches, non-government organisations and businesses make this annual event a great success.

The community day has been brought to the community for the past five years and has been a huge success every year.

This event provides the community with essential services such as medical assistance, dental care and social services, free of charge. A host of service providers will be donating their time and skills on the day.

New Creation Family Church pastor Grant Walton said new services will be offered at the event, including the Choc Childhood Cancer Foundation SA, Tara Psychiatric Hospital, Wits Medical School and the University of Johannesburg’s optometry department.

“What we discovered in the past is that most people don’t have access to the services we offer, due to factors such as distance or the cost of the service. All the services we offer are equally in demand. The gates of the recreation centre will only open at 10am and will close at 4pm. The people who are still waiting in line inside the centre will be assisted,” said Walton.

He added that last year hundreds of people were helped. Walton received positive feedback from residents who appreciated the assistance and inquired about when the next one will be hosted.

Volunteers will also be providing free lunches and childcare.

The following services providers will be available:

  • General medical and specialist practitioners
  • Optometrists
  • Dentists and dental care providers
  • Career advice and counselling
  • Audiologist
  • Legal advice
  • Nutrition, mother and baby clinic
  • Social workers and professional councillors
  • Blood testing (HIV, glucose)
