Blairgowrie car collision leaves man with serious injuries

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was left seriously injured on 8 August when two light motor vehicles collided on the intersection of Republic Road and Bram Fischer Drive.

Spokesperson for ER24, Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived on the scene at 5.30am to find the vehicles in the middle of the intersection. “Upon closer inspection, paramedics found one man trapped inside one of the vehicles,” added Meiring.

He said paramedics quickly extricated the man and assessed him. They found he had sustained several injuries and was in serious condition.

“The man was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to Mediclinic Sandton for urgent treatment.”

Meiring said the driver of the second vehicle was assessed and found to have escaped injury.

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the cause of the collision.
