42-year-old Morne van Wyk is reportedly back home with his family after being reported as missing.

Details are sketchy but van Wyk’s mother Lidia said when her son left their home he made a stop somewhere and it appears as though his drink was spiked and caused him to pass out.

Van Wyk was reported missing after he left his parents’ house in Fontainebleau at about 11 pm on 16 March but failed to arrive home.

“We received a call from police that he had been found and we must fetch him, which we did at 16:30 this afternoon [Friday],” she said.

She further explained that her son was fine and that she was thankful that he was well as anything could have happened.

“We would like to thank everyone that responded and we are very grateful for the prayers,” she added.

She could not confirm which police station her son was found by but confirmed that her son had been robbed.

Spokesperson for the Randburg police station Captain Makgowanyana Maja cautioned residents not to accept drinks if they were open.

“If someone suspects that their drink has been spiked they must try and get to a safe place and call the ambulance who will take them to the nearest hospital thereafter we can open a docket and begin investigations,” he said.
