Randburg police hope 10-year sentence will serve as a deterrent to other criminals

Randburg police officers welcomed the 10-year sentence handed down by Randburg Magistrates’ Court to Heavyman Myambo who was recently convicted of housebreaking and theft.

According to the spokesperson for Randburg Police Station, Captain Makgowanyana Maja, Myambo was arrested and charged with housebreaking and theft.

Maja added that in November last year, a Bordeaux resident alerted police when he found that his security had been breached.

According to the statement that the complainant made last November, he noticed when he came home that the alarm system was cut off and a window was forced open and the ceiling had been damaged.

The victim immediately called the police and his security response team when he discovered this.

The response team promptly searched the premises and found Myambo hiding in the cottage.

Maja added that Myambo was immediately arrested and taken to Randburg Police Station where he was charged with housebreaking and theft.

“We welcome the sentence that was handed down and we hope that it will serve as a deterrent to others,” Maja said.
