Randburg police officers strive to increase visibility in order to decrease the scourge of crime within their precinct.

About 57 suspects were arrested during an operation by the police and the City of Johannesburg’s Region B members.

“The aim was to increase high visibility and to prevent crime in the Randburg policing area. Stop-and-search operations and roadblocks duties were conducted in various sectors,” said spokesperson for Randburg Police Station, Captain Johannes Maja.

The suspects were arrested for crimes ranging from possession of dagga, drunk driving, drinking in public and reckless and negligent driving.

“All the suspects appeared in Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 5 June,” Maja said.

During the previous weekend, police officers also arrested about 23 suspects during a joint operation conducted by police officers and Metro police.

The suspects who were arrested during this operation appeared in Randburg Magistrates’ Court on various charges.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of our policing precinct and we will continue to fight crime in collaborative operations and the involvement of the community.”
