The event was in affiliation with the National Chamber bodies of South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Afrikaans Handels Instituut. It also included the launch of city improvement district organisation, Future City Fourways.

“Both [chambers] are meaningful entities working towards positive goals for business and community,” said RCCI CEO, Linda Blackbeard.

She added this exciting venture widened the possibilities and platforms of opportunity for local businesses through the chambers’ extended connectivity and opportunities within the area, region, country, and South African Development Community (SADC) regions. “It now offers business, in and around the Sandton/Fourways area, a chamber home and voice of their own.”

Blackbeard said Future City Fourways, spearheaded by Advocate Jean Berdou, would work closely with the Randburg and Fourways chambers on numerous business initiatives.

“FCCI now offers exposure and inclusion for the Fourways businesses, as a voice for business lobbying and governance issues.”

She added that the FCCI would also work together with local and provincial government, business, and communities in an effort to drive the sustainability of Future City Fourways.

Blackbeard concluded that more than 500 people from all different sectors of the business communities attended the prestigious event. Embassy representatives from the SADC region, officials from the City of Johannesburg, business leaders from small, medium and large business sectors, CEOs, entrepreneurs and many involved community members were present.
