A suspect (31) was recently arrested for allegedly stealing a lawnmower.

The incident took place on the corner of Malibongwe Drive and Oxford Road in Ferndale.

Randburg Police Station officers were on patrol when they noticed the suspect carrying a lawnmower. The officers approached the suspect in order to ascertain where he obtained the lawnmower from, however, the suspect failed to give a satisfactory explanation to the police and was arrested.

Randburg police continued to make their presence felt in the community as they made 34 arrests this weekend during an operation.

The officers along with other law enforcement agencies arrested 12 drunk drivers – four suspects for dagga possession, three for prostitution, two for theft, one for possession of suspected drugs, nine for public drinking and three for reckless and negligent driving.

All the suspects are expected to appear in Randburg Magistrates’ Court this week.
