MMC Dagada wishes ratepayers a joyous holiday season and commits to resolve billing crisis

MMC Rabelani Dagada wishes all of Joburg a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

The City of Johannesburg’s MMC for Finance, Dr Rabelani Dagada, has the following message for residents this festive season:

“The holiday season is around the corner and as MMC of Finance in the City of Johannesburg, I would like to extend my best wishes to all residents of the city.

This time of the year is often filled with festivities, but I sincerely hope that our ratepayers and residents alike take a break from the rat race to rest and recuperate from the toil of the year.

The past 12 months required the current administration to stretch and test the depth of the billing crisis that has mired good governance and customer centricity in the City of Johannesburg for more than 10 years.

Working with an external service provider, the next eight months will be critical in changing the tide.

I would like to confirm my continued and undivided commitment to resolving the billing issues that linger.

While you take some time to put your feet up, I’ll ensure that ours are firmly on the ground, working to ensure ratepayers get the quality services they deserve and indeed pay for.

Our Customer Service Centres will be fully operational during the December holiday period, with the exception of the national public holidays – 16, 25, 26 December and the 1 January.

Ratepayers are reminded of their obligation to pay their municipal accounts in full and on time during the festive season.

If you are going away on holiday, please ensure you pay your account/s at any Easy-Pay outlets such as Pick n Pay, Shoprite/Checkers or Woolworths.

Remember to use your nine-digit account number as reference. It’s important to note that payments via a third party may take up to seven days to reflect on the City’s system.

Please make the most of this holiday season with your loved ones and if you’re travelling, be cautious on the roads and return safely.”
