Pancake Day for North Riding’s Acacia Private School

Washu Morare and Tapiwa Nyatsanga learn how to make pancakes on Pancake Day in North Riding.

Children from Acacia Private School learned how to flip pancakes and serve customers at Checkers North Riding in early February.

As one of the school’s first public engagements, the children made more than 250 pancakes and the community, not aware of a new school in the area, was also informed.

Checkers North Riding hosted the Pancake Day as a way to not only introduce the school to the community but also to raise funds.

Headmaster, Fiona Wood said the experience for the children was amazing and they had fun learning a new skill.

“They got to wear hairnets and gloves, and they really enjoyed that very much.

The teachers and staff were also at the Pancake Day event and this was for teachers and the children to get to know each other better.

This was also a chance for the school to be out in the community and have fun as a team,” said Wood.

After the Pancake Day event, Checkers store’s staff visited the school to donate an undisclosed amount of money. They expressed their willingness to work with the school on various other projects they will need help with.
