Residents can report fading road markings and other road issues to the roads agency

Road markings are repainted by the Johannesburg Roads Agency every three to six months.

Fading road markings can be hazardous for motorists and pedestrians, along main arterial routes such as Beyers Naudé Drive.

The reporting of fading road markings is essential and will help the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) and the Department of Roads and Transport keep them maintained.

Residents can report fading road markings and other road issues such as damaged signage and potholes to the roads agency through Twitter @myjra, by calling 0860 56 28 74 or send an email to [email protected]

Some roads fall under the jurisdiction of the department while most smaller roads are the responsibility of the roads agency, which repaints roads every three to six months.

The spokesperson for JRA, Bertha Peters-Scheepers, says a maintenance plan is in place regarding all road markings of major arterial routes.

The spokesperson for JRA, Bertha Peters-Scheepers, said a maintenance plan was in place regarding all road markings of major arterial routes and three contractors have been appointed to assist the agency’s internal teams with the execution of the plans.

The department repaints the markings annually and maintenance is also done when and where there is an urgent need.
