Trinityhouse loves the rugga

Rugby players celebrate after scoring a try.

– Rugby fever took over Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge recently when they hosted the 16th National Rugby Festival for preparatory schools.

At the festival, U13 first teams from eight schools participated, and a total of 24 first team matches were played. Headmaster, Hilton Scott said they welcomed old friends, Durban Preparatory High School (DPHS), Highbury Preparatory School and Merchiston Preparatory School.

“They have been instrumental in the success of the festival and, over the years, we have grown to appreciate what their schools stand for,” he said.

Laerskool Fairlands and Laerskool Roohuiskraal were back again this year, with the hope to continue building strong relationships.

Other schools that joined were Sun Valley Primary School from the Western Cape and Laerskool Lynnwood from Pretoria.

There was no overall winning team although there were Man of the Match awards given at the end of each game.

Trinityhouse played three matches and lost to Highbury Prep and DPHS, and drew against King Edward Preparatory School.

Scott said that they saw every match as another opportunity to grow their rugby and to grow the players.

He thanked the schools that buy into the festival, as well the school’s families.

“For opening their homes billeting young boys from the visiting schools. It is a difficult task indeed. Therefore a huge thank you to the parent community for getting involved.”
