Baby Brayden Wiebosch is on a slow road to recovery with a combination of positive developments followed by a close scare.

The Randburg Sun previously reported on the health condition of the three-month-old baby after he was rushed to hospital two weeks ago by his parents when he choked on his food during feeding time.

Distraught parents Kaylee Perucatti and Harry Wiebosch have tried everything that they can to raise funds for their child’s hospital treatment.

After two weeks, Brayden is still in the hospital and is being treated in the paediatric ward. He is no longer in a critical condition and is responsive.

According to Brayden’s mother Kaylee Perucatti, he woke up last week and was able to move, cry and eat.

On 29 June, his stitches on his skull were removed, and another cranial sonar scan was performed later in the day to check if there was any bleeding on his brain, to evaluate some of the brain damage that Brayden may have.

Doctors determined that the fluid in Brayden’s brain was building up again due to a blood clot.

Perucatti said, “Doctors have done a sonar scan on him after his cranial operation to drain the blood and there is still fluid building up as there is a blood clot blocking it.

“If the fluid gets worse they will have to put a shunt in to let the fluid go back down to the spine where it’s meant to be.”

For now, baby Brayden is in a stable condition, but doctors are closely monitoring his situation.
