Crime stats show increase in hijacking for Randburg

Incidents of car hijacking in the Randburg area has increased over the past year according to this year’s published crime statistics.

During the 2017/2018 policing year, a total number of 52 hijacking incidents were reported to the Randburg Police Station, which is a 36,8 per cent increase when compared to the 38 incidents reported in the previous year.

The police and Statistics South Africa published the country’s crime statistics for this year on 11 September.

The statistics show the types of criminal activity that have increased and decreased over the past year.

The Randburg Sun is awaiting comment from the Randburg Police Station.
